A removable brace is an appliance made from plastic and wires which clips on to the upper or lower teeth and can be taken out of the mouth. A lot of people feel that these are old style braces and wrongly call them, retainers. However, they can be used solely to treat minor tooth problems or can be used in conjunction with “traintracks” to greatly simplify complicated treatment.
Success depends heavily on the patient wearing the appliance as requested by the orthodontist. Sometimes the patient will be instructed to wear it while eating whereas sometimes it will be removed for eating.
